Good Book "The Japanese Experience"
If you want to read a book about Japanese History from the origins until modern times, I recommend the Book "The Japanese Experience" from (W. G. Beasley)
If you are interested in japanese History, I highly recommend the Book "The Japanese Experience" from W. G. Beasley. It contains short descriptions of each periods, starting with the orgins, moving on to the creation of Monarchy with Fujiwara regents, how the relations with Asia and Europe developed etc. It of course cowers the raise and fall of the Tokugawa family that held the position as shogun for more then 200 years and the Meiji Restauration that lead to the modern Japan.
What I like most is that it not only covers the history timeline but also describes the cultures and society. It does not cover the Shinsengumi, but that is another book I started to read. I will keep you updated.

I really read this Book
This is not an advertisement from a book store or something. I really read this book on my last few flights.
